SZAM! started as a holiday gift in 2021, when Sam made a batch of garlic chili crisp for friends and family. What began as an act of love became a mission to share unforgettable flavor, built on quality ingredients, and the cuisine people keep thinking about after the last bite.
He started in 2017, cooking locally-grown mushrooms at specialty grocers. Sam has been chasing that same reaction: the moment someone tastes a mushroom cooked the right way for the first time and everything clicks. Inspired by travels through China, Vietnam, Mexico, Hawaii, and across the United States, SZAM! brings that spirit to the table with bold flavor, layered umami, and texture that lingers.
Sam is known locally as the "king of the culinary hustle", bringing experience across private and commercial cheffing, food product R&D, and food sales and marketing, with an outspoken passion for battling food insecurity. From writing recipes to cooking a holiday event at the White House in 2023, his work has always centered on feeding people something they will remember.
